Select 'Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth' as the output routing, like you tried. Of course you'll have to deal with a bit of latency since that's always present when dealing with digital audio, but that particular Tascam interface appears to have a hardware monitoring feature which might let you get around this. You can solve this by connecting the audio out from the keyboard to the audio in of the Tascam. You'll get exactly the sound that you're used to from your keyboard, but it won't go through your headphones since that audio is not being routed to Cubase or the Tascam. The audio will be generated by your keyboard and played through the keyboard. Back out to your keyboardĬonnect the MIDI OUT from your Tascam to the MIDI IN on the Roland, and configure Cubase to send MIDI out that output. You've got three basic places you can send those MIDI notes in your current setup: 1. You likely already know this, but I mention it just in case.Īs I understand the situation, Cubase, via the Tascam, is getting MIDI messages from your Roland keyboard, and must then must send those notes somewhere if they're going to mean anything. ![]() Rather, MIDI messages can be interpreted by audio devices which produce audio based on those instructions (Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth is one such device). MIDI is an instructional code that doesn't produce any sound. It's hard to provide an authoritative answer to troubleshooting questions like these (they're kind of open ended), but I'll try and describe how I imagine the situation should look, which hopefully will be enough information to diagnose the problem.įirst off, it's critical to understand that MIDI and audio are not the same thing. If I select TASCAM MIDI as hardware output I hear nothing. In the mean time (after reading many posts) I installed reaper but there I face the same issue: I can hear my keyboard (through the headphones that are connected to the Tascam) if I select Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth as hardware output device (but then there's the latency issue). I can hear the (original) music on my keyboard regardless if that cable is connected or not. Not sure if this is related but I don't see the point (and I guess there should be a point) in connecting the MIDI output on the Tascam to the MIDI input of the Roland. If I select 'Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth' as output routing then I can hear the music from my speakers although sometimes with a delay (which as I've read has to do with buffering).Īny idea what I need to alter on my setup in order to hear the playback through my Tascam? ![]() This does work when I do the same with my guitar. Problem is that I could not hear it through my headphones (that are connected to the Tascam) nor from my PC speakers when I select the Tascam as the output audio device. It was looking good at the start I could see that Cubase was receiving when I played something on my Roland. For this I have a Roland (E-36) keyboard that I connect though MIDI (in/out) on my Tascam. ![]() Setting up and recording guitar bits was easy enough but now I'm trying to add some piano. I just bought myself a Tascam US-122 for recording my music.

![]() In musical terms, Anvil plainly made their mark in those grubby early days. It was just a dirty time and a dirty environment, so yeah, we had a lot of fun but there was some pretty awful stuff going on.” If you slept with anyone you’re gonna get a dose. You had to bring sleeping bags, because if you slept in those beds you were gonna get scabies and fuckin’ crabs. I’ll be honest, I’ve had better times! Ha ha! Some of those days were pretty rough. “But I don’t look back at the 80s with great nostalgia. “Getting the first album recorded was a massive highlight,” Lips states. ![]() Despite his and Robb Reiner’s resolute determination, an initial flurry of low-key success in the early 80s never led them to a major commercial breakthrough, and due to poor management decisions and a whole stack of bad luck, the 80s didn’t turn out to be golden age that Anvil unquestionably deserved. If you’ve seen Sacha Gervasi’s astonishing documentary, Anvil: The Story Of Anvil (and if you haven’t, what the fuck?) then you will know that Lips’ hopes for world domination never quite came to fruition. Maybe my hormones weren’t working as strongly, I don’t know! Ha ha ha!” The second one made a slight departure from that, because I guess it became a little less important. ![]() “That guy hears School Love and he says, ‘Oh my god, that’s absolutely filthy! We’re not signing that!’ Ha ha! So it makes sense that the first album was so much about sex. “Anybody between the ages of 18 and 23, that’s all that’s on your mind, right?” he muses, not unreasonably. Lips notes that securing a record deal hadn’t been too much of a problem, but that at least one prospective benefactor at Capitol Records had flinched when confronted with the sexually charged (but slightly juvenile) lyrics to songs like School Love, I Want You Both (With Me) and, in particular, Bondage (opening line: ‘Tie me down you mean old bag!’). Hard ’N’ Heavy was released on via Canadian rock imprint Attic Records. Metal On Metal was much more of a heavy metal record than the first one.” As soon as that came out, we started writing for the second record, which came out in 1982. It just so happened that we didn’t release it until 1981. So it’s really all that stuff that was part of the 70s. Then there’s Bondage, which was directly influenced by Ted Nugent. Bedroom Game was directly influenced by Rainbow. What were we influenced by? Obviously English stuff and also American stuff. So it’s really previous to metal even being called metal, if you know what I mean. “Realistically, the material that was written for that first record was written two to three years before it was recorded. Although Hard ’N’ Heavy was a largely straightforward hard rock record, songs such as Bedroom Game and Bondage are some of the earliest ever examples of what would become speed and thrash metal. Looking back to the music Anvil were making in the early 80s, it’s easy to see how wildly ahead of their time they were and how, along with Motörhead, they contributed several major new weapons to metal’s creative armoury. They just started to call it heavy metal and we were happy to be part of it. So it was a really new thing, but to us it was just a continuation of the hard rock that we’d been listening to since we were kids. We had cassette tapes that we’d run through our PA system and we’d introduce other cool bands to the audiences that we were playing for. We formed in ’78 and I guess we were kind of bringing metal to our country. “It was something that was mainly coming from the UK. “When the 80s started, metal really didn’t exist, particularly in North America,” he recalls. Today, genial frontman Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow looks back on those early days as a time of wide-eyed enthusiasm. If you think you’ll only be using the trimmer in the same spot every time then I suppose it isn’t so important to be cordless. Mobility is great and being able to take your trimmers to the gym for example and not worry about an available plug in the locker room. My money is always on having a cordless trimmer for shaving to stubble or for beard trimming. You’ll want to start out with a long setting and work your way down to the length you like so you aren’t cutting it too short right off the bat.Īny time you have options that is the way to go. Especially if you are just shaving down to stubble for the first time. If you have the option to adjust the length, either by a dial on the trimmer or by using attachments, then this is your best bet. Also, rotary motors are really efficient and cut much more quickly and evenly thanks to the additional torque they have so if you are on the fence between models and one is rotary, well there’s your answer right there. Look for high SPM or RPM for the speed of the blade from the motor. I think everybody can agree that that is a pretty important factor. The more power you have then the less time it takes to shave. What happens when you have a full beard and you want to shave it down to stubble? Then power becomes a big factor. When you are keeping up on your stubble, then it can cut really easily and power is not so important. As much as this is a religious and cultural movement, it is also an art movement, and it all ties together.” “There has been a perceptual shift in which people are able to embrace images that may have previously seemed untouchable and blasphemous. “People do not automatically think of Satanism as this murderous force anymore,” Greaves said. Greaves and sculptor Mark Porter intentionally designed its calm and stoic facial expression to reflect the Temple’s non-violent mission and political status. Unlike these artistic renderings, the Baphomet statue’s demeanor is not inherently sinister - an aesthetic departure from the iconography of the Church of Satan, which is unaffiliated with the Temple. Baphomet was a symbol of gender nonconformity, sexual alterity, and religious deviance well into the 20th century, becoming solidly associated with modern Satanism after the Church of Satan created its sigil in the 1960s. Scholars and archaeologists believe its name to be a bastardization of Mohammed (i.e., Mahomet) that appeared in trial transcripts. While the statue is based on a drawing by 19th-century cult historian Éliphas Lévi, Baphomet’s folk history dates further back to the Crusades, when members of the Knights Templar were charged with heresy for allegedly cohabitating with Muslims.
